Please be advised that on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, a chiller unit will be moved onto the roof of the veterinary hospital. The operation will require the setup of a crane in the central library parking lot, which will be unavailable for use throughout the day.

Pedestrian access to the central library will remain open; however, the entrance walkway will be temporarily closed during certain phases of the crane's operation, making it impossible to enter or leave the library at those times.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • How to Borrow Books

To borrow a book, you must present your Smart Card or a valid ID document.

Loans are personal and non-transferable. However, you may authorise another person to collect books on your behalf by providing a written authorisation together with a copy of your ID document.

General reference works, publications printed before 1830, and rare or valuable books are not available for loan.

  • Renewals and Reservations

If your user category is eligible, you may renew your loan once only for an additional 30 days, starting 4 days before the due date and no later than the due date itself, provided the item has not been reserved by another user.

Loans may be renewed and books reserved:

  • through your personal account in the University Library Catalogue;
  • at the Agrovet Library;
  • by telephone or email.

If you reserve a book that is currently on loan, you will receive a notification when it becomes available and must collect it within 3 days.

Please note: each loan can be renewed only once.

  • Manage Your Loans Online

By accessing your personal account in the University Library Catalogue with your SCU credentials, you can:

  • view your current loans;
  • check due dates;
  • renew eligible loans;
  • reserve books.

If you notice any discrepancies in your loan record, please contact the Library staff as soon as possible.

  • Returning Books

Books must be returned by the due date and in the same condition in which they were borrowed. The Library reserves the right to request the early return of any item if required for service reasons.

When the Library is closed, books may be returned using the book return boxes located at the entrances of the Agrovet Library and the Diffused Library, available during Campus opening hours.

  • Collection by Proxy

You may authorise another person to collect library materials on your behalf by providing a written authorisation together with a copy of your ID document.

  • User Responsibilities and Penalties

Loan requests must be made at least 15 minutes before the Library closes.

Please return borrowed books by the due date. Late returns will result in the suspension of borrowing privileges for a period equal to twice the number of days overdue.

A delay of more than 90 days may result in the procedures provided for under the applicable regulations being initiated. In addition, students who fail to return borrowed books at the end of their course of study may be unable to apply for graduation until their library account has been regularised.

When collecting a book, please check that it is in good condition and immediately report any damage or defects to Library staff.

If a borrowed book is lost or returned damaged, the user must replace it with a new copy or, if it is no longer commercially available, with other library material of equivalent value as indicated by the Agrovet Library. Borrowing privileges will remain suspended until the replacement has been provided.
